"I can't stop crying buckets of tears!"

Retro time!

So as not to annoy my FB feed, which is already being subjected to my ranting today: As of today I've met my goal of working out 3 times a week, 40+ minute sets in DDR (or an hour, for the one that doesn't have a timer) for four weeks solid.

I've been slowly lengthening the sets, up to 44 minutes so far. I'll plateau that when I don't have the stamina to do a longer set, or when I run out of songs that I like in each mix. Or, I suppose, when the time commitment gets to be irritating; I do need to sleep.

I'm not trying to lose weight (heck, we don't even own a scale), but I feel a lot more energetic afterward. There are a lot of ancillary benefits that don't get enough press, IMO. People focus on the aesthetics - look good at the gym! bikini season! blahblahblah! - and that's a shame.

I'm still playing the PS2 versions of DDR, while I mull over the expense of a second 360 and a Kinect to upgrade to Dance Central. That's a chunk of change. On the other hand, my middle-of-the-road DDR mat has gotten really heavy use over the last 5 years, and I feel that I've easily gotten my money's worth out of it. It's a frivolous idea, but it's not entirely stupid.

I wish I had gotten into anywhere near that regular of a schedule -- I'm going to have to try it with Sophia in her playpen and see if it bounces her too much (now that she's basically outgrown her bouncer, which I've put her in while DDRing before with no problems).
I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but I could use the energy.
