Running in place is OK.
I am pretty sure I haven't touched this file all month. Had ideas, made notes on paper, have not written anything. January was huge, and I have been trying to sew like a demon because of the upcoming con.
Words without notes: 138,985 (-80) (ha)
With notes: 146,228 (7,243 of notes, -16 since last time) (heh)
Pages: 278 ( - 0) (yep)
Apparently I did something! Not much of something. But that's OK. And I'm not even putting on a brave front, here; I am not worried. The story is still lurking in the back of my mind. I am also thinking of changes like: Does that bit of backstory actually have to be in there, or is it just a vestigial remnant of an old plotline? If I took it out, what would happen? Does the character still make sense? Oh... yes, I think so. OK, then, why not cut it out? Why indeed.
The con is in 5 weeks, the first weekend of April. I'll keep letting the story percolate in my mind until then. I'll keep making notes. I'll be back soon enough.
