Stats the First
Feb. 15th, 2012 08:34 pmI used to write quite a bit on The Internet, but then I took a sense of self-imposed public expectations to the brain. Then I folded, and didn't feel like writing anything for the next 5 or 6 years. I still haven't returned to fanfic, but I did go back to writing stuff just for my own entertainment. That was about a year ago, and it's still going OK.
I was thinking of doing stats every two weeks or something just to create "mile markers" for myself, even though I don't know where I'm going.
So, 2/15/12:
209 pages
110,948 words
Includes inline notes and a little bit of duplication in the middle of a rewrite. (i.e. a couple of paragraphs done two different ways, while I decide which to keep)
Habit word report:
Dark: 67
Breath: 89
Hand: 267 (though that does include "beforehand" etc., I still have characters gesture too much.)
I am not writing a gothy vampire story, so there's your problem. Will keep on the lookout for other overused words, because it's entertaining. Plus, then you can play the pants game with Search & Replace. (Seriously, try that with "dark" in anything. The gathering pantsness; the looming, pants menace; it's beginning to get pants - it's probably good that I don't write for public consumption, seeing that I'm mentally 12.)
