I felt as though video editing wouldn't work for me at the moment, and that was true. Sewing has been easier; I'm just waiting for a delivery of plush for the next project. I hope the color is OK. Gray can be difficult.
One-step-forward-two-steps-back stats:
5/8/12:
116,317 words (-390, that's editing for ya)
218 pages (-1)
I've been in a mood to pick out arbitrary things in the story and change them. "Why do these two countries have the same native language? It makes the dialogue easier to write. Bleh. Change." Also de-angsted one character's backstory a bit and stretched out some rushed bits.
Of course, all of this stuff has to be retconned into the 218 pages I already have. I've set myself an unofficial goal to integrate 8 particular changes into the story-as-written by the end of the summer. Some are minor, some are not. At that point I'll load the story onto my Kindle as a text file to reread/play with "on the road." It'd be nice if the Touch didn't stink at inputting everything, but that's what divides an e-reader from a tablet, I guess.
And yes, I took a couple of trope dives. Scored 11 out of 75 on this classic fantasy novel quiz, and because let's be honest, 4 out of 36 on this classic romance novel Bad Ideas List (so classic that I fear it's missing a lot of recent Issues, like sparkly vampires).
Yeah, I officially don't care that it sucks, but it's still fun to take quizzes.

I came across the term "feral fan" a little while ago, while reading about live-action video editing. On one hand, it kind of feels nice to have a name for what you are. On the other hand, I feel very conflicted about the idea of fandom's apprenticeship/guild system. I understand that that's how it is; I just don't know how I feel about it. (And yes, I understand that it exists no matter how I feel about it.)
Hm. It's interesting to see how it's viewed from the outside (errrr, the inside).
